Five Ways to Get Smart

1. Don’t show off. Instead, help the buyer to show off.

2. Instead of saying, “I know…,” ask the buyer, “What do you think?”

3. If you’re trading jokes, let the buyer have the last laugh—even if you’ve got a topper.

4. Don’t assume that the buyer knows anything. Always provide context.

5. Learn to concentrate all of your attention on the buyer.

If you’re blessed enough to be smart and talented, use your intellect and devote yourself to building rapport. Become a fantastic listener. If you listen to buyers with all of your attention, they will enjoy being with you and you’ll get through Stage 2 with flying colors.
